Retinal Tears and Detachments

p>

Flashing lights and floater

The flashing lights are caused by the vitreous gel pulling on the retina or a looseness of the svitreous, which allows the vitreous gel to bump against the retina

The floaters are caused by condensations (small solidifications) in the vitreous gel and described by patients as spots, strands, or little flies

flashing lights and floaters may often be unassociated with a tear or detachment and can merely result from a separation of the vitreous gel from the retina.

This condition is called a posterior vitreous detachment PVD

also , notice

Blurred Vision

Another sign is seeing a shadow or a (curtain )coming down from the top of the eye or across from the side.

Diabetic retinopathy

In Diabetic retinopathy Search For :

microaneurysms

(They are small areas of balloon-like swelling in the retina's tiny blood vessels. )

This Is :

Mild Nonproliferative Retinopathy

Attenuated blood vessels

This Is :

Moderate Nonproliferative Retinopathy

Ischamia:blocked blood vessels

depriving several areas of the retina with their blood supply. These areas of the retina send

signals to the body to grow new blood vessels for nourishment.

This Is :

Severe Nonproliferative Retinopathy

Neovascularization

the signals sent by the retina for nourishment trigger the growth of new blood vessels. This condition is called prliferative diabetic retinopathy.

These new blood vessels are abnormal and fragile. They grow along the retina and along the surface of the clear, vitreous gel that fills the inside of the eye. By themselves, these blood vessels do not cause symptoms or vision loss. However, they have thin, fragile walls. If they leak blood, severe vision loss and even blindness can result.
